ARTIST'S BIOGRAPHY
I love to be creative and want to share my work with others. I started taking photography lessons in my late 20’s but in my early 30’s weaving came into my life. I spent 29 years weaving, mainly tapestries, rugs and blankets. The love of colour and texture came alive in my weaving and spilled over into my photography. In 2017 I entered a year long professional photography course, graduating in 2018, with a Diploma in Professional Photography. From there Quadra Lady Photography was born. I grew up in the Fraser Valley but since my early 20’s have lived on Vancouver Island and now Quadra Island surrounded by the ocean and a fabulous natural environment. At times a photographic opportunity is a spur of the moment decision and other times more detailed decisions can be made. I use my knowledge of lighting, composition and my camera’s abilities to capture what I see. My strategy is to use minimal assistance in my developing program to produce my creation. My public achievements include having photos chosen to grace the cover of the Quadra Island phone book in 2020 and 2022. In 2022 I had separate photos chosen by the Campbell River Downtown BIA, one for a Spirit Square banner and one for a four mural installation gracing a public building. It is a special thrill to have my art work chosen for these very public spaces.
